We collaborated with students from Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD) to create a logo and brand identity for the new international film studio based in Limerick.
Troy Studios houses 340,000 sq. feet of high specification sound studio and support facilities for film and television productions. The development of Troy Studios is a hugely exciting venture for Limerick City, and as a Limerick based design company we were excited to be involved in the realisation of this project.
We worked with Siún Ní Raghallaigh Director of Troy Studios to develop an identity design brief and then set about presenting a series of workshops to the final year Visual Communications students in LSAD.
The students worked in groups and Troy Studios selected the concept by students Tara Sheehan, Kevin McInerney and Aislinn McGrath.
Moving on from initial sketches on the day of the workshop we rolled out the identity based on the concept of naturally occurring patterns in the area as represented by a single line. This line permeates through the whole identity and goes on to form the logo, the iconography and the bespoke font we created for Troy Studios.
After a series of visits and consultations with Troy Studios we identified a big part of the identity was to make sure that visitors could find their way around the massive building. This dynamic identity serves as a way finding system as visitors follow the colour coded lines around the building.
Colour is introduced liberally as blocks interact to create a constantly evolving identity that can shift between instances where it is required to be exciting or more toned down as it suits.
