Twitter. Gifs in the real world
We were approached by Twitter to create a series of greeting cards that they could send to their high profile clients to show their appreciation. They wanted something with a personal message to help build a relationship with the Twitter team.
This project coincided with the launch of the new Twitter brand guidelines. The guidelines encourage fun, creative and energetic content. We studied the brand and honed in on one thing that is close to our hearts and something that Twitter has always celebrated… GIFs!!!
Our idea was GIFs in the real world.
A GIF is a constantly looping, short animation that is visible to the public but targeted to a specific audience. We dissected these elements and landed on the perfect medium that encapsulated everything that a GIF is. We chose the Lenticular Postcard.
Lenticular printing uses a layer of high relief plastic to move back and forth over a limited amount of frames just like a GIF and the fact that it takes the form of a postcard means that it lives in more of a public space than say an enclosed greeting card.
We crafted, acted and re-appropriated everyday objects in our photography studio to create a series of GIFs that speak the language of the new Twitter brand. The fun and creative content blended perfectly with the unusual medium to create something truly unique and entirely engaging.
